The College of Business honors the outstanding achievements and services of its faculty and staff annually. Recipients are formally recognized annually at an event in the spring.

About the College of Business Distinguished Teaching Award
In the fall and spring semesters, business students nominate the faculty member who has made the most positive impact on their educational experience. The college’s Scholarships, Honors and Awards Committee reviews the nominations and determines the top three finalists. The top three finalists will submit a nomination packet to be reviewed by the committee. The committee reviews the nominees’ submitted packet and selects the winner. The Distinguished Teaching Award is presented to a tenured or tenure-track professor. This person’s name is forwarded to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Office as the college's selection for the College Distinguished Teaching Award.
About Nebraska's Distinguished Teaching Award
On the campus level, 15 faculty members will be given distinguished teaching awards upon the recommendation of the colleges. These faculty members will receive a $1,000 cash award through funds provided by the Nebraska Legislature. The distribution among colleges is as follows: Agriculture: 1 Arts and Sciences: 6 Business: 1 Engineering: 2 Education and Human Sciences: 3 Fine and Performing Arts: 1 Journalism and Mass Communications: 1
Eligibility
Nominee must be a tenured or tenure-track professor for a full year. Once a faculty member has received the Distinguished Teaching Award, they will not be eligible for three years following the award.

About the Excellence in Teaching Award

The committee reviews the nominees’ submitted packet and selects the winner. The Excellence in Teaching Award is presented to a professor of practice or a lecturer or adjunct faculty member.
Nominees must be a professor of practice, a lecturer or adjunct faculty for a full year. Once a faculty member has received the Excellence in Teaching Award, they will not be eligible for three years following the award.

The criteria for receiving the awards are the level of research productivity over the last calendar year and the quality of the research produced, as indicated by the following list of suggestive (but not exhaustive) indicators of quality. It is ultimately up to the nominee to provide a convincing case of the quality of her/his research using both subjective and objective criteria:

12/15: Faculty members upload publications and awards data to https://go.unl.edu/cobaddpubs. The Associate Dean for Faculty and Research (ADFR) downloads a spreadsheet of number of faculty publications in journals on the list of journals eligible for summer funding and provides this information to the Research and Professorship Review Committee (RPPC).
12/15: Nominations for awards should be submitted through the button above. The ADFR downloads the nominations and submits them to the RPPC.
3/1: RPRC reports award winners to the Dean’s Office and sends award letters to faculty. Awards are made at the annual Award Event at the end of the semester.

About the Faculty Service Award
The annual Faculty Service Award recognizes the contributions of a faculty member to the accomplishment of the service mission of the college. The award is given to a faculty member who has distinguished themselves through service to the university, college, department, community or profession. The award is based upon a record of sustained performance that, in the estimation of the selection committee, has significantly contributed to the college's service mission.
Faculty are invited to nominate their colleagues for this award. A letter of nomination should include the nominee's vita and a persuasive statement as to nominee's achievements in the area of service.

The Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to a member of the professional or clerical staff that supports the work of the College. This award recognizes staff who show consistently outstanding job performance; provide service or support above and beyond the call of duty; exemplify or inspire a “teamwork” attitude; make innovative or creative contributions; excel at one or more of the college's Guiding Principles.

About the D’vee Buss Students First Award
The D’vee Buss Students First Award is presented annually to a staff member who exemplifies a student-centered approach. This award recognizes staff for unique or extraordinary efforts and/or sustained commitment to the philosophy of “students first.”
Staff can be nominated by their departments, faculty, staff or students. The Scholarships, Honors and Awards Committee makes the final selection based on the record of the nominees.

The Online Graduate Programs Teaching Award was established in 2005. All on-line students are requested to vote for their favorite professor, thus determining the winner.

The Scholarships, Honors and Awards committee reviews the nominations and determines the top three finalists. The top three finalists will submit a nomination packet to be reviewed by the committee. The committee reviews the nominees’ submitted packets and selects the winner. The Ph.D. Student Teaching Award can be received once every three years.
